MANILA, Philippines – Philippine volleyball’s best performers the past year will have their special night.
The Premier Volleyball League (PVL), in collaboration with the league’s press corps, will hold its first-ever Awards Night on May 27 at Novotel Manila Araneta City in Cubao, Quezon City.
The inaugural in-season awards night will honor the league’s top talents, with the Most Valuable Player of the Season, Mythical Team, Rookie of the Year, Team of the Year, and Coach of the Year among the top awards to be handed out.
Last week, the league named Petro Gazz star spiker Brooke Van Sickle as the All-Filipino MVP, her second in her PVL career, following the Angels’ first-ever All-Filipino Conference conquest.
Winners will be determined by cumulative statistics from all three conferences, as well as votes from team representatives and the PVL Press Corps, composed of print and online sportswriters who cover the league.
The Executive of the Year, Most Improved Player, Miss Quality Minutes, Comeback Player of the Year, and Fair Play award, which will be given to the team with the fewest green card violations throughout the season, will also be named.
Meanwhile, the Spikers’ Turf, the league’s men’s volleyball counterpart, will also have their own MVP and Mythical Team citations in the event presented by Arena Plus and organized with the help of Sports Vision.
Aside from the individual and team awards, there will also be fan-centric selections, including the Game of the Year, Star of the Night, and Fan Favorite.
Voting mechanics will be announced on the PVL Press Corps’ official social media pages during the voting period. – Rappler.com
