Aira Villegas celebrates her 29th birthday with the best possible present as she scores a unanimous decision win over Algeria’s Roumaysa Boualam to advance to the women’s 50kg quarterfinals.
Villegas clinches the first and third rounds to claim the 30-27, 30-27, 29-28, 29-28, 29-28 victory.
Facing France’s Wassila Lkhadiri in the last eight, Villegas is a win away from a guaranteed Olympic medal.
