Davao Region police chief hopes cops assigned in KOJC operation will get P10M reward money

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Davao Region Police (Police Regional Office 11) Director Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III said he was hopeful the troops involved in Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) operation in Davao City will receive the ₱10 Million promised reward money for the arrest of Apollo Quiboloy.

“I don”t really know if they will give the reward. But if that happens, I will let you know and be assured everyone has a share of it since it came from a private individual,” Torre said while talking to the law enforcers in the KOJC compound immediately after the news broke that the doomsday preacher was now in the custody of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The Philippine National Police deployed more than 3,000 cops during KOJC operation for the arrest of Quiboloy. It took 16 days to occupy the 30-hectare compound, which is situated near the Davao airport.

The Davao Region cops were jubilant over Quiboloy’s arrest. They were also excited to go home to their families in their respective regions where they were plucked out from their units.

“Let’s enjoy a night of beer,” Torre told the cops. He thanked them for their full support of the operation.

Quiboloy’s lawyers though said their client surrendered and was not arrested.

Lawyer Israelito Torreon said his client surrendered to spare the KOJC compound from destruction and prevent his followers from getting hurt.

The PNP said Quiboloy and his co-accused—Cresente Canada, Ingrid Canada, Jackielyn Roy and Sylvia Cemanes—surrendered inside the KOJC compound because of police pressure.

Meanwhile, Torre said he was working on ‘passes’ or extended days of vacation for those who saw action in KOJC operation before they return to their respective units. – Rappler.com
