MANILA, Philippines – ABS-CBN on Thursday, November 14, announced that Hello, Love, Again, the sequel to the 2019 hit Hello, Love, Goodbye, broke the record for the opening day box office for a local film, earning P85 million on its November 13 debut.
Hello, Love, Goodbye, starring Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo was the former box office record holder for a local film (P880 million) before it was upended by Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera’s Rewind in 2024 (P889 million).
Hello, Love, Goodbye earned P34 million on its opening day in 2019.
Expectations are high for Hello, Love, Again to make a killing in the box office, and is expected to have a long run in the cinemas.
The Joshua Garcia-Julia Barreto starrer, Un/Happy For You has so far been 2024’s biggest local film, opening at P20.5 million, and finishing at P450 million.
Bernardo said of Hello, Love Again: “Just like what Direk Cathy said, ang pangako lang namin sa inyo sa pelikulang ito puso ang ibibigay namin. So I hope after watching this film yun ang maramdaman ‘nyo ‘di lang kay Joy and Ethan kung ‘di dahil sa buong pelikula.” (Our promise is we gave our heart to this film. I hope you feel this not just with Joy and Ethan, the lead characters, but with the whole film.)
Alden expressed gratitude for the support: “Maraming salamat sa mga excited mapanood muli ang kwento ni Joy at Ethan. Napakasaya namin and we’re very proud of this film and we’re very excited for you guys to see it.” (Thank you to those who are excited to watch Joy and Ethan’s story again.)
